Mark 10:32-45
by Andrés Chinchín
“Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all” (Mark 10:43-44).
Sometimes the great powers of the world abuse their authority and oppress those below them. However, Jesus teaches us that authority is serving others, and denying oneself for the love of God. This is an act that can only be carried out with the power of the Holy Spirit, since our strength and self-denial are limited.
To think:
In what area of your life have you held a misconception about power and authority?
Prayer:
Lord, you are the ruler of this world, and yet you became a servant for our salvation. Teach us and help us to follow your example.
Amen.
