Matthew 13:44-50
by Andrés Chinchín
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy he went and sold all that he had and bought that field” (Matthew 13:44.)
In these verses we find two themes. The first is the value that the kingdom of heaven has for those who find it. So much so that the men in these stories are willing to give everything for it. Secondly, we see the consequences of ignoring the kingdom, by which men end up eternally separated from God.
This is how the human being was not created to remain in ambivalence, but to make decisions that bring him closer to the kingdom of God through the power of the Holy Spirit and the renewing work of Christ.
To think
The kingdom of God consists of a relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ his Son, and so to reject him is to reject eternal life.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank you for your love and mercy in opening the kingdom of heaven to men. Please enlighten me with your Holy Spirit and give me life through your Word, so that I may seek and appropriate your kingdom
Amen.
