Revelation 4: 1-11
by Andrés Chinchín
“Every time these living creatures gave glory and honor and thanks to him who sat on the throne, who lives forever and ever” (Revelation 4:9).
These verses show us the glory of God and his supreme power. He is the one who occupies the throne of the universe and who receives glory and honor. His sovereignty and power are infinite; however, he has come close to us through his eternal covenant, as Spurgeon says, “As a sovereign, he could cast you off, but he has promised that he never will, and he never will. As a sovereign, he could let you perish, but he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” As sovereign, he may allow you to be tempted beyond your strength, but he has promised that no temptation will overtake you except such as are common to man, and with the temptation he will provide a way of escape”1.
To think about:
In response to his love and great compassion, we are called to give him honor and praise.
Prayer:
Lord, we praise you for your great power and authority. Help us to live in view of your sovereignty and reality, knowing that even though the world is a hard and sometimes dangerous place, you are in control.
Amen.
