Acts 15:7-21
By Andres Chinchin

“We believe that by the grace of the Lord Jesus we will be saved, just as they were” (1 Corinthians 15:2).

Both Jews and Gentiles are saved by putting their trust in Jesus Christ. In these verses, the members of the early church are shown arguing about whether or not it was necessary for Gentiles to be circumcised in order to be saved.

Today we know that this is not necessary; however, at times we continue to impose strong norms and rules to achieve holiness, and although discipline is important and necessary in our spiritual growth, it cannot be taken as a substitute for the grace of God in Jesus Christ.

To think:

Remember the gospel

“For it is by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared for us beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you very much for the grace that you have given me through Jesus Christ. Help me to always trust him, and give me strength, wisdom, and understanding to walk the path you have prepared for me.

Amen
