Deuteronomy 4:1-9
by Andrés Chinchín
“Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should do so in the midst of the land into which you are entering to possess it” (Deuteronomy 4:5).
In these verses the people of God are about to face a great enemy, in order to take possession of the promised land. Moses reminds them that it is not their skill that will give them victory, nor is it their strategy, but obedience to God.
In the past, one of its members (Achan) had disobeyed, and because of him many perished, but now, the people have a new opportunity to obey the statutes of God and take possession of the promised land.
To think:
The psalmist reminds us that the statutes of the Lord are not burdensome, and that those who keep them receive great reward.
Prayer:
Lord, guide me in your ways, to lead myself faithfully; Give me an entire heart, to fear your name.
Amen
