Hebrews 7:1-17
by Andrés Chinchín
“Not according to the law of the commandment of offspring, but according to the power of an indestructible life” (Hebrews 7:16).
From the beginning, humanity has needed a redeemer. One who frees us from our sins and leads us into perfect communion with the Father.
This is how these verses remind us of the story of Melchizedek, the priest who blessed Father Abraham after he defeated the kings Chedorlaomer, Amraphel, Arioch and Tidal (Genesis 14:17).
Melchizedek was a man who had neither beginning nor end, like a God, probably the pre-incarnation of Jesus Christ himself.
The writer of Hebrews tells us that Jesus Christ is a priest in the order of Melchizedek, and that his lineage is greater than any human priestly lineage; for that reason, only he can completely free us from our sin and restore our relationship with the Father.
Food for thought:
The priesthood of Jesus Christ has no beginning and no end, and he is able to completely save all who come to him.
Prayer:
Thank you Lord for your salvation; for taking part in our miseries, and restoring us completely in you
Amen
