Jeremiah 31:31-34
By Andres Chinchin
God identifies himself as a faithful husband to his people. He pursues them and does not allow evil and sin to be an impediment to their relationship; rather, he promises to cleanse their hearts and completely erase their mistakes through a new covenant. Spurgeon says, “Things required by the law are bestowed by the gospel. God demands obedience under the law: God works obedience under the gospel. Holiness is asked of us by the law: holiness is wrought in us by the gospel.”
To think:
“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, in which I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah” (Jeremiah 31:31).
Prayer:
Thank you Lord for your mercy and your forgiveness. Help me to walk in the confidence of your covenant towards me through the work of Christ Jesus.
Amen
