Matthew 13:10-17
by Andrés Chinchín

“For it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; but it is not given to them” (Matthew 13:11).

Hearing and understanding the good news of the kingdom of God is a privilege that is given to those who desire to know the truth. However, those who harden their hearts end up losing the gift of eternal life.

In his time, Jesus spoke to the crowds through parables, and these were part of his mercy, so that those who were interested could seek the meaning within them, and those who were not, would not harden their hearts any more for the day of judgment.

To think:

Faith comes from hearing the word of God, let us ask God to soften our spirit so we can listen to it with humility and gratitude.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for opening the kingdom of heaven to us. Forgive us for the times we have hardened our hearts, and give us wisdom to listen to you and follow you with humility and love.

Amen
