Matthew 2:1-12
by Andrés Chinchín
“Where is the newborn king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and have come to worship him” (Matthew 2:3).
In this story we see the arrival of the wise men from the east. They were probably part of the remnant of the people of Israel who remained in Babylon, but they still retained vestiges of their culture and hope in God.
However, we see that those who lived in Jerusalem and were heirs to God’s promise—like the chief priests—remained indifferent to the news of the gospel and the arrival of the king of Israel.
To think about:
In what area of our life have we grown cold, and taken the good news of God for granted?
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your love and mercy toward us; Rekindle the fire of your spirit in our hearts, and do not allow us to take your grace and goodness in our lives for granted.
Amen
