Jeremiah 23:5-8
by Andrés Chinchín
“In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; and this is the name by which he will be called: Jehovah, our righteousness” (Jeremiah 23:6).
The prophet Jeremiah carried out his ministry, prophesying to the southern kingdom, the kingdom of Judah. During this time, the descendants of King David and the glory of God’s people had been lost, since even the king who ruled, Zedekiah, was a puppet of the Babylonian empire. However, in these verses, God promises his people liberation and redemption from their oppression, and even a king descended from David.
This is how we can see that God is always the one who takes the initiative for our reconciliation. From the Garden of Eden to the incarnation of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
To think about:
The Lord is attentive to our affliction and pain, and it is He who comes to rescue us.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for your mercy on our behalf. Look upon us with compassion, cleanse us, heal us, and free us from our oppression and alienation.
Amen.
