Hebrews 10:8-18
by Andrés Chinchín
“For where forgiveness of sins is, there is no longer an offering for sin” (Hebrews 10:18).
During the old covenant, God’s people had to make sacrifices to atone for their sins. These sacrifices were repeated annually—and during specific occasions—since they could not completely cleanse us of sin. However, the coming of Jesus introduced us to a new relationship with God, and cleansed us completely and forever from our sin, writing His law on our hearts.
To think about:
In the moments when we are harassed by the memory of our sins, we can take strength from the fact that Jesus has already paid for them, and has given us complete freedom.
Prayer:
Thank you Lord for your infinite love and mercy as you are the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Sanctify us and teach us to live lives of obedience to you.
Amen
