Hebrews 12:5-17
by Andrés Chinchín

“What you endure is for your discipline, for God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?” (Hebrews 10:18).

In these verses, the author of the book of Hebrews leads us to meditate on the moments in which believers receive God’s discipline. He encourages us not to be discouraged since this discipline means that God is truly our father, and is preparing us to produce good fruit in his name.

God’s discipline is part of our discipleship and following Jesus, because there are many areas in our life that must be sanctified, and the process can be somewhat uncomfortable, but with great benefits. In addition, having gone through this process will allow us to encourage others who go through similar situations.

To think:

Let us not be discouraged when the Lord disciplines us, because there is no father who does not discipline the son he loves.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord, for your love and patience toward us. Help us to accept and submit to your discipline, so that we may produce a harvest of justice and peace in the future.

Amen
