Jonah 3:1-10
by Andrés Chinchín

“When God saw what they had done, and that they had turned from their evil way, he also repented of the harm he had said he would do to them, and he turned from it” (Jonah 3:10)

These verses speak to us about sincere repentance. The people of Nineveh heard God’s call through the prophet Jonah and changed their way of life—so much so that God repented of the punishment and did not destroy them.

It does not matter what our sin is. God’s mercy is reason enough to approach him in repentance and ask for forgiveness. Jonah himself experienced God’s forgiveness and restoration before going to Nineveh, and that same conviction of God’s mercy filled his message with hope—even when he didn’t perceive it.

To think:

Repentance is a gift from God through the Holy Spirit. Let us not silence his voice when he calls us.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for your infinite love and mercy. Give us lives of repentance and victory in you

Amen.
