John 15:1-17
by Andrés Chinchín Talavera
“You are my friends if you do what I command you”
(John 15:14)
In these verses, Jesus reminds his followers of the importance of abiding in him—of dwelling in his word and obeying his commandments. We did not choose him, since we were dead in our trespasses and sins; he was the one who chose us and called us his friends. However, that calling comes with the responsibility to obey his word.
To Think:
Only by obeying God can we bear fruit that lasts.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your call and your compassion toward me. Allow me to live in obedience to your word so that I may bear abundant fruit and live in communion with you and your children.
Amen
