Romans 3:21-31
by Andrés Chinchín

“For God is one, and he will justify those who are circumcised by faith, and those who are uncircumcised through faith” (Romans 3:28).

It is the faith of Jesus Christ and our unión with him that justify us. It is not our actions, nor our power to fulfill the law that allows us to boast in our salvation, but the grace of God, through Jesus Christ.

This does not mean that we have a free license to sin, since for those who have understood grace, it is difficult to live and walk in willful sin. As theologian Dietrich Bohoeffer (1951) said, it is only when we understand the fearfulness of God’s name that we can embrace his grace in Jesus.

To think:

It is God who justifies those who have put their faith in Jesus, and this is not by the works of the law, but by faith in Christ Jesus.

Prayer:

Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities, create in me, O God, a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:9-10).

Amen
