Luke 24:35-49
by Andrés Chinchín

“Why are you so afraid?” he asked them. “Why are your hearts so full of doubts? 39 Look at my hands and my feet; you can see that it is really me!” (Luke 24:38-39)

These verses show us the appearance of Jesus to his disciples. Christ’s resurrection was a bodily act and not merely a spiritual one, as he focused on showing his disciples the bodily realities of his person.

  • The marks on his hands and feet,
  • The eating of food.

Christ’s bodily resurrection is important because it shows us that we too will be resurrected in a physical body. Not only that, but this demonstrates to us that the physical part of our lives has a profound connection and influence on our spiritual part.

Things to Think:

Let us not downplay the importance of our actions. Everything we do with our bodies is an act of spiritual praise and worship to God.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for the incarnation of Jesus Christ. Teach me to live a holy life through my actions and what I do with my body—which you will raise to eternal glory through the sacrifice of your Son Jesus.

Amen
