Ezra 9:5-9
by Andrés Chinchín

“For we are servants; But our God has not forsaken us in our bondage, but has shown us mercy before the kings of Persia, so that we may be given life to build up the house of our God and restore its ruins, and to give us protection in Judah and in Jerusalem” (Ezra 9:9).

There are times in our Christian life when we relapse into our faults and sins after having repented and received forgiveness. In many places in the word we can see that God does not approve of this type of behavior, since it turns his grace into something economic and ephemeral. However, here we see the prophet Ezra, crying out to God, with fasting and prayer, for the sin of his people, and we see that God hears him and has mercy on him and Judah

To think:

Forgiveness of our sins does not come from us, but from the patient and compassionate character of God.

Prayer:

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your mercy. According to the multitude of your mercy blot out my transgressions… Create in me, O God, a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51)

Amen
