Matthew 6:16-21

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).
Sometimes our hearts turn away from God and place their security in earthly things, such as money and reputation [like those who fasted so that others would see them]. In truth, both things are not bad, they are a gift from God, but putting our absolute trust in them is a trap that will destroy our lives and distance us from God.

In what area of your life have you put your trust in something other than God?
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, teach me your ways to guide me in your truth, and give me wisdom not to put my complete hope in earthly things.
